Managing our weight can be a challenge for many of us... So Quenby's is now offering a medical weight loss program that will be fine tuned to your specific needs and goals!
What is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a medication that belongs to a class of drugs known as GLP-1 receptor agonists. It was originally used, and still is, to treat type 2 diabetes by regulating blood sugar levels.
Semaglutide is also now available for weight loss!
And it's become increasingly popular because it's truly the biggest breakthrough in medical weight loss options we've ever seen!
This is because it is incredibly effective and safe for use by most patients. There are a few potential contraindications, so it is important to discuss your health history and health/weight goals with your medical provider before beginning treatment.
At your first visit you will fill out some basic health history questions and meet with your provider to discuss the pros and cons of Semaglutide for weight loss. Treatment may even start at this first appointment!
If you and your provider decide that semaglutide is a good choice for you, you will pop in for a quick 15 minute visit once a week. At your weekly appointments we will:
Please reach us at info@quenbyswellnesscenter.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
While each patient's weight loss will be different, the majority of patients start enjoying noticeable weight loss in the first few weeks! (Quenby lost 7 pounds in the first month!) Obviously the patients who experience the best results combine their treatment with focussing on a healthy diet and moving their body daily.
Although many patient enjoy weight loss with few to no side effects, GI discomfort including heartburn, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, & bloating are the most common side effects. Luckily, these discomforts often subside after the first few weeks.
There are very rare but serious potential complications reported in clinical trials, including hypoglycemia, pancreatitis, and acute kidney injury. This is why it is important to be regularly monitored by your medical providers during treatment with Semaglutide for weight loss.
Duration of treatment is based on each individual's goal, starting weight, underlying health, age, gender, response to treatment, and other factors. Regaining weight once treatment stops is a common issue for many patients. However, we will be helping you make lifestyle changes throughout the course of treatment to help reduce weight gain when you have reached our goal and are ready to taper down your Semaglutide treatments.
Some patients (Quenby is one of them!) decide to stay on Semaglutide at a lower maintenance dose to help maintain their weight loss and/or to continue enjoying all the other amazing health benefits. Many of our patients report simply "feeling better" while taking Semaglutide.
Semaglutide is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Semaglutide is also contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of MTC or in patients with MEN 2, and in patients with a hypersensitivity reaction to semaglutide. Serious hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis and angioedema have been reported with Semaglutide but are extremely rare.
Patients who enjoy the best results combine treatment with a healthy diet/exercise program and nutritional/nutraceutical suppport to manage side effects, improve nutrition, and boost metabolism including:
