PRP has been a tried and true treatment used in a variety of medical specialties for many years, including orthopedics, dentistry, and wound care, due to its powerful healing and regenerative properties for soft tissue.
In Aesthetics PRP has gained recognition and popularity for skin rejuvenation and hair restoration.
Platelet rich plasma can be used in many areas on the face (PRP facial) and body. It is used for overall face, neck, decollete, and hand rejuvenation, stretchmarks on the body, and is a very effective treatment for acne scars.
It is also an amazing hair restoration treatment for both male and female pattern balding.
PRP has been shown in clinical trials to significantly restore healthy hair growth for patients with both male and female pattern balding.
Most patients require 3-4 treatments spaced one month apart. Maintenance treatments are usually needed about once a year.

When our own PRP is injected into the skin it releases growth factors which stimulate cell growth and new collagen is formed. This new collagen creates healthier, thicker skin with a noticeable reduction in fine lines, wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, discoloration, and general signs of aging.
Similarly, when PRP is injected to areas on the scalp where hair is thinning, the growth factors slow hair loss and stimulate new hair growth.
The process is very simple. We start with drawing a blood sample, just as they do at any lab for a blood test. The blood is then spun in a machine called a centrifuge, which separates the blood into three parts; one of these parts is your PRP.
Once we have obtained your PRP it is injected into the area being treated, which is very similar to Botox or dermal filler injections. If we are using your PRP for skin rejuvenation we will first use a topical numbing cream so the procedure is fairly comfortable, and often incorporate microneedling to the area being treated.
Often our skin rejuvenation patients begin to see improvement after only a few days, and these results should continue to improve for four to eight weeks. Most patients begin with a series of three treatments about a month apart and then incorporate one or two maintenance treatments a year into their skin care regimen.
For hair restoration, beginning with a series of three to four treatments spaced about a month apart is recommended. Many patients begin to notice new hair growth at three to four months, sometimes sooner! One to four maintenance treatments a year will help maintain your results. Incorporating at home therapy with Theradome works wonderfully as adjunctive therapy for even better results!
